Youth Education & Development

Since 2018, Sneha Mandir has introduced graduate & post graduate scholarships worth Rs 1 Lac per year for upto 5 students of meritorious academic background as well as coming from economically challenged families. This scholarship is expected to fully or partly meet student's expenses towards fees, hostel & others required to complete the course. The scholarship is provided every year till completion of course. The purpose of this scholarship is to ensure that no youth is prevented from achieving his or her potential in educational qualifications.

Started in 1998, the objective of this program was to create awareness among the children and their parents who were residing in & around Sneha Mandir at Bandora. It is endeavour of this program to highlight importance & value of education among the economically & socially challenged communities so that no child misses opportunity to study for want of financial support. The program supports children from Standard VIII onwards upto graduation in college. For the purpose of granting support, the program takes critical inputs from teachers where the student is studying & due diligence is done to ensure that only deserving meritorious students are provided with the financial support.

Under this program presently more than 170 students from economically challenged families are being supported by means of payment towards fees, uniforms, books & stationary, basic hygiene material, etc. Of these students about 10% students are pursuing graduation studies. Some of the earlier beneficiaries of this program have graduated in Medicine, Engineering, Pharmacy, Arts and Science.

This Program of supporting education is partly funded by Smt. Rajashri Ramdas Prabhugaokar Education Fund. Mr Sandip S Bambolkar also supports students studying Medicine and Pharmaceutical sciences.

Started in 1994, every year in the month of January, Artist Suresh Govind Kamat Drawing Competition is held. This is an interschool competition where more than 100 students from different age groups from Standard I to Standard X participate. Special encouragement is given to differently abled special children to participate in this competition.

This program was started in 2010 to provide talented students from all over Goa, with coaching to compete for National Talent Search Examination. Under this program, teachers from Dyan Prabhodhini, Pune conduct regular coaching classes at Goa Vidya Prasarak Mandal School at Ponda. Students from VII standard onwards are given intensive coaching for 15 months. While no fees are charged to students, all expenses towards travel, lodging & boarding of teachers is borne by Sneha Mandir under this program. Presently 50 students are undergoing coaching for National Talent Search Examination.

Every year under Shri D D Kosambi young scientist Project, Sneha Mandir identifies students from socially & economically challenged families for special coaching classes. The program has been initiated in 2013. The admissions of these students to recognized schools are validated. The students are then given a timetable to attend classes on holidays & convenient non schooling hours. The classes are held at GVM's Almeida High school -Ponda & dedicated teachers from Dnyan Prabhodini- Pune & Adhyayan – Mumbai are invited to conduct the classes. The students are given special attention in deficit subjects. This helps build confidence in students & prepares them mentally for rigors of schooling. It also ensures that the students feel at parity with peer students in school. During the classes necessary healthy refreshments are provided to children. Due care is taken to ensure that students do not fall short of any requirement at school. Every year, a summer residential camp for 3 days is also organized. The program focuses on developing liking among students in Maths & Science.

Currently 50 students from socially & economically challenged families are benefitting from this project. It has been observed that as a result of this project, the dropout rate of students from school has reduced. Parents of these children have also conveyed a positive feedback on these children in terms of improvement in their reading habit & self confidence.

With an objective to make senior citizens residing at Sneha Mandir interact with new generation, in 1994, Shrujan Kala Shibir was initiated. Conducted during summer holidays of school children, this week long camp encourages children to participate in craft, drama, sports, dancing, public speaking, etc. The camp is open to children from IV to XII standard. Children are provided with coaching in their passions of art & sports. Over last 15 years, Shrujan Kala Shibir has proved to be very popular with more than 200children participating daily in pursuit of their extracurricular passion. The camp is conducted over a period of 6 days.
