FACILITIES AT SNEHA MANDIR

  • Sneha Mandir Facilities

    The foundation stone for the complex was laid at the hands of Poet Laureate Late Shri V V Shirwadker alias Kusumagraj in presence of litterateur Shri Pu La Deshpande and by way of Bhumipujan at the hands of Shri Pundalik Anant Keni & Late Smt Indira Pundalik Keni on 4th February 1989.

    The complex is located at a distance of 5 Kms from Ponda in the vicinity of famous temples like Shree Shantadurga, Shree Ramnath, Shree Naguesh and Shree Mahalaxmi. The area at the foot of a hill is very picturesque and spread over 25,000 square meters. This has allowed having a beautiful landscape of garden & walking roads to give a salubrious, pollution free green environment to the residents. Phase 1 was inaugurated on 24th October 1993 at the hands of eminent Jurist Late Shri Nani Palkhiwala. This includes self contained cottages with rooms on twin sharing basis to accommodate 44 people. Built in the vicinity of the cottages are “Anant”, “Aajol” and “Niramay”. “Anant” which is named after Late Shri Anant Vishwanath Keni, includes Dining, Kitchen, Recreation facility, Community Hall, Library, TV room, Manager's quarters, Guest rooms & Administrative Office. The Dining room in “Anant” periodically serves non vegetarian food and is a place which frequently celebrates birthdays & festive occasions. The community hall is always vibrant with cultural activities, educational & recreational student camps, etc. “Aajol” is training cum study centre & was sponsored by Late Vasantrao Sinai Dempo. The roads in the complex allow the residents to take leisurely walks in midst of well maintained garden. The residents are encouraged to interact among themselves so as to live a dignified life in an extended family.

    Sneha Mandir is open to all sections of society, irrespective of religion, caste or creed and admission is need based. The charges are kept at minimum. A few seats sponsored by donors are allotted at subsidised rates or free of charge to financially challenged families.

    Niramay:

    Given the need for special attention to health care of the senior citizens, “Niramay” was created in 1995. This is the Health Care Centre gifted by Late Smt Bablibai Shapurji Sorabji, a native from Bandora. This centre meets the needs of residents when Doctors visit the complex every Wednesday. It is also used to conduct health check up camps. Arrangements are also made for specialised treatment if required at additional cost to the patient.

    Sayantara: Prof Esvonta Sinai Talulicar Memorial Geriatric Centre - Lazarus Building

    This facility is further extension of service to senior citizens who are bed ridden and was created in 1995. It was inaugurated at the hands of HE Romesh Bhandari the then Governor of Goa. It has capacity to accommodate 22 residents & is housed in Lazarus Building. Continuous care is provided to the residents here by the attendants.

    The complex was built with key support from Dr Madhukar Talaulicar. To create this edifice of service, Dr Madhukar Talaulicar, who is based out of Germany, worked relentlessly to raise the resources from his professional colleagues like Dr Klaus Winter, along with colleagues from Lions Club of Suedharz and German Dentist's Association. This facility has provision for periodic visits by Doctors & check up of the residents.

    Snehalaya: Suman Ramesh Tulsiani Centre of Love and Care & Jui Rajadhyaksha Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation centre

    Snehalay was created in 2001 to meet the ever increasing demand from Senior citizens who are unable to move freely on their own. The residents perform their daily chores with help of the attendants & are provided with facility to have food by their bedside. Jui Rajadhyaksha Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation centre is located adjacent to the Snehalaya. This centre was built by Smt Amita and Dr Prakash Rajadhyaksha in memory of their daughter. It is also supported by MadgavkarTrust, Executor-Estate of Smt Sitabai Keshavrao Kundaikar and Adv. Atul Rajadhyaksha. The centre is well furnished with physiotherapy exercise equipments. Residents are encouraged to use the equipments for self wellbeing. Citizens from neighbouring villages also use these facilities free of cost. Snehalaya & Physiotherapy centre was inaugurated at the hands of Shri Manohar Parrikar Chief Minister of Goa, in august presence of Shri Suresh Prabhu & Shri Digambar Kamat, Power Minister of Goa on 27 October 2001.

  • Sneha Mandir Geriatric care

    Raj Tara Aashray: Rajaram & Tarabai Bandekar Charitable Trust Geriatric Care Centre

    In 2021, given the growing need in community for Geriatric care, a new 30 bed Geriatric care centre named Raj Tara Aashray was built with support of Rajaram & Tarabai Bandekar Charitable Trust. This is a modern facility with 2 persons per room with attached bathroom & toilet. These well-ventilated rooms with large veranda are in a ground plus three storeyed building provided with electric lift for easy and convenient movement of residents and attendants. Appropriate resting areas are also provided for attendants.

    The centre is provided with modern fowler beds, over bed trolleys, bed side lockers, oxygen concentrators, crash carts, fans, safe drinking water, solar heaters for bathing water, laundry washing machine, electric cart for transport of food & residents, wheel chairs, CCTV for security of residents and other critical equipment. All these equipment were donated under Rotary International Global Grant project supported by The Rotary Foundation, Rotary club of Cascavel Integracao- Brazil and Rotary Club of Panaji Midtown.

    Solar Plant & Diesel Generator For Electricity Generation

    As a part of continuous improvement in managing expenses at Snehamandir, in 2021, a solar electricity generation plant of 75KW capacity was installed. This was supported through Corporate social responsibility initiative of Indoco Remedies Ltd.

    Similarly a diesel generator set of 100KVA as electrical power backup during power outages was installed thereby causing great convenience to residents & staff of Snehamandir. This was supported through Corporate social responsibility initiative of D Link India Ltd. The project was coordinated by Rotary club of Panaji Midtown.
