Home Nursing School

In the recent past, Goa & its vicinity have been facing acute shortage of home care nursing attendants. Keeping this severe shortfall in mind, Shri Vishnu M Kuvelkar Home Nursing School was established in 2011. Located on the Sneha Mandir campus at Bandora Goa, the institute conducts an 18 month duration sandwich course which includes 15 months of practical training at Prof Esvonta Sinai Talulicar Memorial Centre of Geriatrics. The training includes 3 months of intense care of patients at the centre thereby facilitating hands on education for the youth with geriatric senior citizens.

The school has its own modern classroom for training 20 youth, equipped with contemporary nursing apparatus. There is a library on the premises to encourage the students to develop reading habit as also imbibe professional knowledge. As this is a semi residential course, there are separate hostel facilities for girls & boys with appropriate security. A full time School Administrator coordinates activities of school. The focus of this course is to provide sustainable employment for youth from rural areas.

All the expenses towards tuition, uniforms and stationary are borne by Sneha Mandir. As special incentive, travel expenses to & fro from the homes of students is reimbursed by Sneha Mandir. During their stay for practical training on the campus, all the expenses towards lodging & boarding are provided by Sneha Mandir. The school operates as 100% charity school with support coming in from Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives as well as individuals.

Minimum qualifications to join the school are X Standard pass. The Curriculum is approved by Board of Technical Education (BTE), Government of Goa. The Practical & Theory exams, as also assessment & results are conducted under supervision of BTE, Government of Goa. The faculty consists of qualified Nurses & eminent Doctors.

Vishnu M Kuvelkar Home care Nursing School has been in Operation since 2011.All students who have successfully completed the course are gainfully employed.
